How to do hard things
Welcome to How to do hard things by me, David R. MacIver.
The title comes from my most popular post ever, How to do hard things, in which I explained the (named with tongue more than slightly in cheek) Fully General System for Learning To Do Hard Things. I’ve since figured out a lot more about this, and the system is due for a bit of an update honestly, some of which I intend to work on here.
Since early 2020 I’ve been doing daily writing on my notebook, which I’ve been finding very useful, and it turns out so have a lot of you.
So, I figured I might try another hard thing: Getting paid for my writing.
What will this involve? I don’t know yet! I’m going to try to put out a roughly weekly newsletter (probably on Mondays), on more or less the same themes as my notebook posts. Details to develop as we find out what works for me and the audience here - I’m hoping to have a bit more of a conversation about it and use this as a place to develop some thoughts in a way that works for more people.
The notebook certainly isn’t going away, and I expect there will be a lot of back and forth where ideas developed here make it into the notebook, and ideas developed in the notebook will be elaborated on here.
Sign up now, and we’ll figure out what’s going on here together.
